Steps to take when planning a wedding

Here are some tips for planning a wedding:

  1. Set a budget - Determine how much you and your significant other can afford to spend on your wedding and allocate your funds accordingly to the vendors you trust.

  2. Choose a venue - Select a ceremony and reception location that fits your style and budget. Please keep weather in mind.

  3. Select a date - Choose a date for your wedding, keeping in mind any seasonal discounts or peak season surcharges that may affect your budget. Also keep in mind weather!

  4. Book vendors - Secure the services of a photographer, videographer, florist, DJ, Chair rental, tent rental and other vendors as early as possible to ensure availability. Vendors often sell out in peak season.

  5. Plan the menu: Decide on the type of meal you want to serve at your reception and choose a caterer or venue that can accommodate your preferences for your guests. Don’t forget the donut wall!

  6. Choose your wedding party - Select the people who will stand with you at the altar and plan how you will ask them to be a part of your special day amongst other shenanigans leading up to the wedding.

  7. Shop for dresses and tuxedos - Start shopping for wedding dresses and attire for the wedding party. Don't forget to allow enough time for alterations. Men, always keep in mind that suits should be tailored - no suit fits perfectly off the rack!
